Pregnant Kim Kardashian upstages sister Kourtney with her new bangs by showcasing them in elegant outfit

Ever the cautious, Kim Kardashian road-tested her new look by donning fake bangs at the beginning of the year.

After a few fashion faux pas due to the style genesis seemingly sparked by her boyfriend, Kanye West, the 32-year-old is wisely taking precautions to ensure she pulls off the new haircut with a aplomb.

And on her first outing with the eye-framing bangs, she did just that.

Kim stepped out on an unseasonably hot day in LA to do a bit of shopping, but she never lost her cool.

The mother-to-be was accompanied her sister Kourtney to Bel Bambini, where they both picked out baby clothes.

Kourtney, 33, is of course mom to baby Penelope, seven months, and three-year-old Mason.

Kim decided to dress down the edgy look by wearing black trousers and a crisp white shirt with matching blazer.

It was one of her strongest looks to date, utterly elegant and flatteringly simple.

She matched the outfit with a bright white clutch and stylish pointed pumps.

Meanwhile, Kourtney, who opted for the bangs first, showed off her ultra slim figure in a striped peplum top and shorts.

She slicked some red lipstick across her lips to complete the look.

The pair were also joined by sister Khloe and her new pup.

The pregnant 32-year-old reality star debuted the new look on her Twitter page on Wednesday.

She appears to have followed in the footsteps of her sister Kourtney, who revealed her own bangs last week.

But Kim's style, which she describes as 'Kate Moss bangs' are much more blunter and heavier.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star toiled with the idea of the bold cut in a series of 'Keek' videos she posted moments earlier on the social networking site.

In the videos, she is seen in her dressing room with her hairstylist Philip Wolff and several other people.

Holding a false fringe up to her forehead, she asks around the room whether or not she should go the chop.

She also appears to be on a video conference call with her mother and manager Kris Jenner, also asking her for her advice.

'Mom do you think I should?' she says, as she pouts and preens in the mirror.

'Decisions, decisions. They won't be like Kourtney's bangs. Kourtney has kind of side bangs, but mine will be more blunt.

'...Philip says you should never listen to a pregnant woman, but I just feel like I need a change.'

After getting the feedback she needs, Kim finally makes her decision and bravely has the style chopped into her hair.

As Phillip cuts into her hair, she holds her camera phone up to her face to document the process.

Looking slightly nervous, she closes her eyes as Phillip cuts off several inches of her famous hair at the front.

Kim then showed off the final result in a self snap, captioning it 'I did it! Blunt bangs!!! ��Thanks @philipwolffhair'.

Kim appears to be slightly addicted to new video application, Keek.

Earlier she also posted a video of herself looking sleepy.

But rather than focusing on how tired the pregnant star looked in the clip, fans rather commented on her enhanced lips.

One viewer wrote: 'Why do your lips look 10x bigger than usual?

Another added: 'Not trying to be mean just worried about her. She looked swollen in this keek.sry if I hurt ur feelings.!! (sic)'

However, a further viewer contended: 'The reason she's so swollen is because she's pregnant. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world.'

It was recently claimed that despite doing her utmost to keep her pregnancy weight gain under control, Kim has already gained around four stone.

According to US body expert Alicia Hunter, the 5ft 2in star could find herself tipping the scales at around 14 stone by the time her July due date comes around.

About those lips: Kim had fans wondering about her plump lips after she had posted an earlier video of herself looking sleepy

Despite these reports, Kim has been sticking to a healthy diet and exercise regime, writing on her blog earlier this week: 'Keeping a healthy lifestyle has always been important to me and now it’s even more important because I am looking out for someone else’s well being other than just my own.

'I’ve been researching recipes and healthy eating tricks to make sure that I get the right nutrition now that I’m eating for two! For me it’s about maintaining a well-balanced eating and fitness plan.'

However, Kim has cut down on her daily workouts following a pregnancy scare earlier this month which reportedly saw her told to slow down by her doctors.
