She and Jennifer Aniston narrowly missed an awkward run-in on the same flight to London over the weekend.

And perhaps Angelina Jolie was hoping to avoid another near-miss with her partner Brad Pitt's ex on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old actress showed off her slender frame as she dashed into Heathrow Airport with her oldest son Maddox as the pair prepared to leave the capital.

The Oscar winner displayed her signature low-key style in black straight-leg trousers, a black top and sandals, shielding her eyes with large sunglasses.

Angelina wore her brown hair straight and loose over her shoulders and kept her makeup natural.

She no doubt planned to catch up on the day's events during her flight, as an International Herald Tribune newspaper was seen peeking out of her leather handbag.

Meanwhile, Maddox looked the height of cool in grey trousers, a leather jacket and trendy Vans as he climbed out of their sleek black car.

He took a leaf out of his famous mother's book by donning sunglasses and covering his head with a black beanie.

Angelina made headlines this week after it was reported that her former love rival Jennifer changed her flight from Los Angeles to London after learning she and Angelina had both booked first class tickets on the same British Airways flight.

A source explained that the actresses had no idea they were scheduled to take the same 11-hour flight until an airline employee got in touch with Jennifer's assistants to warn her about the potentially awkward situation.

According to X17 the 44-year-old actress subsequently decided to change her plans and flew out of LAX on Monday instead.

Both actresses also usually stay at The Dorchester hotel in London but neither of them stayed there this week.
